Awarded solely based on academic performance in the entrance examinations and any subsequent interviews.
All pupils registered for Year 7 entry (internal and external candidates) will automatically be considered eligible for an Academic Scholarship. The pupils gaining the top marks, which vary from year to year, will be asked back to attend an additional interview.
What is entailed in the Academic Scholarship award?
The Academic Scholarship Programme aims to challenge and inspire pupils via a range of additional activities, resources and experiences, tailored to nurture their academic abilities and intellectual curiosity.
We have two different Scholars’ Programmes - Humanities & Linguistics and STEM
- Participation in national and local competitions eg. Townsend Warner History Prize, F1 in Schools UK – STEM Challenge Competition, Model United Nations
- Enrichment trips such as Sky Studios and Keats’ House
- STEM/ Humanities clubs with termly projects
- Weekly sessions with their Academic Mentor
- End of year Scholars’ event
