- Belmont Remembrance Day Service 2024
This year we marked Remembrance Day 2024 with a moving and meaningful service, bringing together pupils, staff, and guests in front of the school chapel. This annual tradition gives our community the chance to reflect on the courage and sacrifices of those who served in past wars and those affected by conflicts today.
As the community assembled in respectful silence, the steady sound of the drums, played by Josh G (6ZS) and Mr Florendzo, Music Teacher, signalled the beginning of the service. Pupils and staff lined up, preparing themselves for a ceremony that would remind all present of the deep significance of this day.
We were honoured to welcome Reverend Jo James to lead this year’s Remembrance Day service. Reverend James brought a compassionate and thoughtful presence, guiding us in remembering those who have fallen and emphasizing the importance of unity and reflection. Her words encouraged everyone to think deeply about the values of courage, service, and remembrance.
Adding to the depth of the service was a poignant musical tribute: Henry T (4KC) performed “The Last Post” on the trombone. This tribute left a lasting impression on everyone, creating a moment of silence as each person reflected on its meaning.
Gabriel S (8MC) also contributed to the ceremony with a powerful reading of For the Fallen, a poem that resonates deeply with the purpose of Remembrance Day. His delivery was heartfelt and thoughtful, bringing a strong reminder of the bravery and selflessness displayed by those who served.
This day stands as a reminder of the importance of unity, resilience, and remembrance in the face of past and present conflicts.
