Meet Dr Abbott
As we come to the end of a successful first two days back to school, we were excited to catch up with Dr Susannah Abbott, our new Head of Belmont School. We spoke to Dr Abbott to learn more about her and her role.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I spent my childhood in Dorset and then moved to London after attending University. I have a husband, two children (who will attend Mill Hill) and two Burmese cats.
Aside from teaching and education, what other things are you passionate about?
I love sport, whether it is watching, coaching or playing it. Football is my favourite sport.
What was your favourite subject at school?
History and PE. I cannot select one over the other!
What made you decide to become a teacher?
I was always keen to pursue a career that would enable me to make a difference. My love for history plus various sports coaching roles at university meant that teaching was the obvious choice.
Could you share an inspirational quote with us? How does it inspire you?
Dr Maya Angelou’s, ‘Be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.’ I love this quote as it illustrates how a simple act of kindness and positivity can brighten someone’s life and make a lasting difference.
What excites you most about your new role?
Being part of such a special community with endless potential.
What advice would you give to our pupils to ensure that they get the most out of their time at Belmont?
Be kind, get involved and try everything at least once.
What do you want to achieve as Head of Belmont, Mill Hill Preparatory School?
To ensure that Belmont’s values – Be Kind, Be Brave, Be You – are not merely words but are actively lived out every day.
