How long have you worked at the school?

This is my second year at Belmont.

Could you shed light on the responsibilities of your role?

As a Teacher of PE, Maths, French and Games, I get to teach a wide range of subjects to a lot of different pupils.I'm involved in all the fixtures and lots of different teams and sports within the PE and Games departments, which allows me to challenge pupils whilst finding ways to make sure they are having fun. Being part of the French and Maths departments too provides fora nice change of pace and allows me to work with pupils in a classroom environment, which helps me get to know them better.

Share your favourite aspect of being part of our school.

I love being part of such a large community with such a great range of people. Everyone has different skills and interests, pupils and staff, which means no day is the same and there's always something different going on.

Any invaluable advice for our pupils to make the most of their time here?

Take every opportunity you are offered. The more you do, the more likely you are to find your niche and excel in something you love. And if you don't enjoy it, you lose nothing from giving it a go.

What is your top book and film recommendations for our pupils, and why?

Having gone to watch the Mill Hill show this week, a film I'd recommend would be Legally Blonde - a funny film about not judging a book by its cover, and not limiting yourself based on what others think of you. But a film I watched a lot when I was younger was the Parent Trap, an easy watch that always made me smile. For books, it would have to be the Harry Potter series - there's something in them for everyone.

An inspirational quote that resonates with you and the motivation it brings.

EE Cummings said 'It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are', and that is a quote that I will always stand by. Don't be afraid to be yourself - it won't always be easy, but it will always be worth it in the long run.

Lastly, can you tell us something that we might not know about you?

People might not know that I never wanted to be a teacher! I actually wanted to be a lawyer, and after doing my degree I was supposed to be flying to New Zealand for 6 months to play and coach cricket. But because of Covid I couldn't get a visa, so took a one-year job in a school last minute to stay around sport whilst figuring out what to do. I loved it so much that I ended up going into teaching!
