A Prep School That Nurtures Every Child
At Belmont Mill Hill Prep, we offer a well-rounded and personalised education that reflects the very best of the UK independent school experience. Our smaller class sizes, expert teaching and outstanding facilities create an environment where every child is supported to thrive, both academically, and personally. Beyond preparing pupils for exams, Belmont nurtures confidence, creativity and a genuine love of learning, all within a warm, inclusive and encouraging community. We do this through our dynamic curriculum, exceptional pastoral care and a warm, inclusive environment
A Place to Explore and Belong
Set in 35 acres of green space in North London, our school provides children aged 7 to 13 with room to grow. Our purpose-built classrooms and specialist facilities for science, music, art and sport sit alongside expansive outdoor areas where pupils can run, reflect and recharge.
Beyond academic enrichment, we truly believe outdoor learning nurtures vital life skills. It fosters teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving in a real-world context. Our extensive grounds, boasting a fishing pond, nature reserve, reading garden, Forest School and an outdoor classroom, serve as vibrant extensions of our learning environment. Our teachers constantly look at how to integrate outdoor education into our curriculum, ensuring pupils benefit from hands-on experiences that go beyond traditional classroom settings. Whether it's exploring scientific concepts in our Forest School, delving into history through outdoor reenactments, or fostering creativity inspired by nature, our students thrive in these diverse outdoor spaces. This approach not only reinforces academic concepts but also instils in our students a deep appreciation for the environment and a sense of responsibility towards it.
Every Child Known
Our small class sizes allow us to know each pupil as an individual. We understand their strengths, challenges and interests, and tailor our teaching accordingly. By creating a safe and supportive environment, we give every child the confidence to explore, question and achieve. All our lessons provide opportunities for pupils to discuss, investigate, challenge and be challenged, and as a result they develop not only their understanding but also their enjoyment of the subject. Benefiting from small class sizes, averaging 19 pupils, children are effective, aspirational and self-motivated learners. Through active learning we encourage pupils to ask questions and think critically.
Academic progress matters, but so does happiness, and we nurture both.
Led by Values
We live by three core values ‘be kind, be brave you’.These values shape every part of life at Belmont. Whether in the classroom, on the playing field or during a school trip, we encourage our pupils to treat others with empathy, try new things with courage, and embrace what makes them unique.
We model these values as staff and embed them in the way we learn and lead together.
Skills That Last a Lifetime
Alongside our academic curriculum, we focus on equipping pupils with the skills they’ll need beyond the classroom. Through co-curricular clubs, leadership opportunities and exciting partnerships with organisations such as Tottenham Hotspur and Saracens Mavericks, we support collaboration, communication and critical thinking. There are over 100 clubs each term and we always make sure we offer a breadth and variety of activities in each year group. This guarantees that every child will find their niche. Our co-curricular club are under four pillars, which are: physical, creative, cognitive, and community.
Our Future Skills programme is an exciting part of our curriculum that equips pupils with the skills needed for 21st century work and life. Pupils will work on 'The 7 Cs': Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Calmness, Compassion and Character. This area of curriculum encourages pupils to focus on continual improvement, rather than relying entirely on their grades to reflect their performance and achievement. We want to emphasise critical thinking and skills development across a range of areas.
When the time comes to move on, our children are ready: intellectually, emotionally and socially. Many continue their journey at Mill Hill School, and we’re proud to watch them take their next steps with confidence.
