- Anti-Bullying Week 2025

Anti Bullying Week
This year, Anti-Bullying Week was centred around the theme ‘Power for Good.’ It reminded us that each of us can make a positive difference by speaking out, supporting others and helping to create inclusive communities both online and in person. Miss Nicol’s thought-provoking assembly launched the week, exploring real life scenarios and Prefects helped pupils consider how people use power positively and negatively, and how we can all choose to use our power for good. As Reverend Jo James said so beautifully, just imagine what the world would be like if everyone was always kind.
1000 Kindness Challenge
Dr Abbott also launched our exciting 1,000 Kindness Challenge. Our goal: to achieve 1,000 acts of kindness in one week across the Belmont community. Such acts included an older pupil accompanying a friend to the bus stop (even in the rain); listening and helping someone who was sad and helping someone search the school for an item of lost property. Part of the challenge included a wonderful initiative to recognise and thank the unsung heroes of our community: our catering team, cleaners, grounds staff and office staff, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep Belmont running smoothly.
The challenge was simple: write a short note of gratitude and post it in our Kindness Box. The response was overwhelming. Our thank you cards ran out within two and the queues of pupils eager to write messages during break time were genuinely heart warming to see. Needless to say, the target of one thousand kindness notes was well and truly exceeded.
Wellbeing Ambassadors Assembly
Our incredible Wellbeing Ambassadors led a truly inspiring assembly to mark Anti-Bullying Week.
The ambassadors shared how well-known figures such as Taylor Swift, Zendaya, and Morgan Freeman use their influence and resources to make a positive difference, from donating to charities to supporting those in need. Their message was clear, we all have the power to do good and stand up for others.
Pupils then delighted the audience with a fun and meaningful performance of Belmont’s Got Talent: Anti-Bullying Week Special, re-enacting scenes that showed how we can all play a part in standing up for kindness and supporting one another.
To round off the assembly, several pupils received certificates in recognition of their positive contributions, and it was wonderful to see their proud smiles!
Odd Sock Day
Socks don’t have to match, and neither should we! To celebrate this pupil wore odd socks to school. This helped to teach pupils the importance of embracing what makes each of us unique.
Next week we will unveil our Kindness Tree, beautifully created by Mrs Subhani and proudly displayed in the main building, a lasting reminder of the importance of our most powerful value: kindness.
