Guest Speaker, Dr Matt Pritchard

We kicked off STEAM Week with an exciting assembly inspired by this year’s Science Week theme, “Curiosity: What’s Your Question?”

We were delighted to welcome guest speaker Dr Matt Pritchard, who amazed pupils with a series of scientific tricks before performing his science magic show for each year group. Not only did Dr Pritchard entertain us, he also revealed the science behind the magic, helping pupils understand the principles at work.

He also encouraged pupils to practise playing attention, a fun way of thinking about curiosity where pupils actively notice small details, observe carefully and ask thoughtful questions about what they see. By treating attention like a game, pupils were inspired to explore further and ask those all-important “What else?” questions that sit at the heart of scientific discovery.

It was wonderful to see the pupils and teachers so engaged throughout the assembly. Thank you Dr Matt Pritchard for inspiring our pupils and thank you Mr Frank Howard for organising this special assembly.
