Model United Nations
This week, Year 8 Academic Scholarstravelled to Belmont's first ever Model United Nations (MUN) conference at Felsted School.

This amazing group of pupils took on the roles of diplomats, debating global issues, crafting resolutions, and collaborating with peers from around the country. This experience pushed them to think critically, develop public speaking skills, and understand the complexities of international relations.
Ten pupils represented various committees for Belgium and Ecuador, debating issues from mental health, to disarmament, to the impact of AI. Josh (8UA) bravely spoke to the rest of the ECOSOC delegates about how Belgium did not support a complete dissolution of global debt and Maxi (8NR) had an amendment passed for Ecuador that prisoners should not be given the right to vote until five years after their release from incarceration.
Not only did they grow as global citizens, but they also came away with a deeper appreciation for diplomacy and teamwork. Ready to tackle the world's biggest challenges, they're more motivated than ever to make a difference, and to Be Kind, Be Brave, Be You.
