Year 3 Reading Road Map Begins

Year 3 pupils have also made an excellent start in the Library this term. Regular visits have given pupils the opportunity to explore new books, and Miss Donlea has been delighted by their enthusiasm for borrowing and reading.

Following half term, Miss Donlea and Mrs Pendred will launch this year's Reading Road Map Challenge, encouraging pupils to discover a wide range of authors and genres. As pupils progress through their literary journey, they will work towards exciting milestones, earning certificates after reading 5, 10, 15 and more books. We look forward to seeing the adventure unfold and celebrating their successes along the way.

Celebrating National Poetry Day 2026

To mark National Poetry Day 2026, pupils from Years 3 to 8 were invited to write poems inspired by this year's theme, Wonder. From the mysteries of the universe to the beauty of nature, extraordinary adventures and the magic of everyday moments, Belmont's young poets produced an impressive collection of creative and imaginative work.

We are delighted to congratulate the winners of the competition, whose poems have been published in a special anthology, Wonder: A Children's Poetry Anthology. Each poem offers a unique perspective and highlights the creativity, individuality and literary talent of our pupils.

Congratulations to all of our winners and to everyone who took part. The achievements of our young poets will be celebrated during the first assembly after half term.
