We were delighted this year when four of our pupils got through to Round 2 of the 139th Townsend Warner History Competition. This took place on Monday afternoon and the pupils had two hours to demonstrate a range of historical knowledge. Thomas (8JN) showed off what he has learnt this year by writing about the Peterloo Massacre and the work of Josiah Wedgewood. Gabriel (7AM) showed a great knowledge of the physicist Richard Oppenheimer, Finlay (7JP) wrote about his admiration for Winston Churchill and Urav (7JC), who came best in school in Round One, shared some of his personal history, choosing to discuss a speech made by India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, which his Grandfather had actually heard first hand.

I was really impressed with the boys’ efforts and now wait with anticipation to hear how they have got on.
