- Year 8 Trip to the Museum of London Docklands and West India Quay
Last Friday, Year 8 visited the Museum of London Docklands and West India Quay, where they explored London’s pivotal role in global trade throughout history.
At the museum, pupils toured 19th century warehouses that once stored Caribbean goods such as sugar and coffee, gaining insight into how the docks operated during this period. A compelling exhibition on the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade offered a powerful and thought-provoking perspective on this dark chapter in history.
As part of the visit, pupils observed the stark contrast between the historic dock buildings and the towering modern skyscrapers nearby, highlighting London’s transformation from a bustling trading port to a world-leading financial centre.
This trip provided pupils with a fascinating and immersive opportunity to understand London’s rich and complex history, deepening their appreciation for the city’s evolution over time.
