First suggestion of a Junior School
Teacher Norman Brett-James first suggests the idea of a Junior School, in Bittacy House (now Watchtower House), but bad infrastructure in the House kills the project

Mill Hill looks to form Junior House
An increasingly large number of pupils makes Mill Hill begin looking into forming a Junior House.
1912
Belmont Junior House is opened
Old Millhillian Arthur James Rooker Roberts (AJRR) (OM 1893-1900) begins correspondence with Mill Hill’s Treasurer Richard Buckland (a fellow OM) about helping to create a Junior House. AJRR later attains a junior teaching post after approaching Headmaster McClure. Buckland writes to AJRR stating that 'the Governors would license Belmont for a Junior House.' Belmont was an 18th century private house, situated further along the Ridgeway. AJRR purchases Belmont for the sum of £6,700 and, in September, Belmont Junior House is opened with one pupil, Harold Pearse Soundly (nephew of matron Annie Pearse, at Mill Hill). More quickly join.

Belmont becomes Mill Hill’s Junior School
Belmont separates from Mill Hill as a House and, now as a school, it's first addition is a new classroom block to accommodate increased pupil numbers.
1923
Belmont builds to accommodate pupil numbers
A seamless extension is added to the 18th Century house due to expanding pupil numbers.
1926
Opening of Chapel on Belmont site
A new chapel is constructed in 1925, opening in 1926. The ashes of AJJR, his wife and his son are buried beneath the altar.
1934
Opening of the Belmont Swimming Baths and changing rooms
The new additions to the School are opened by Princess Alice, Countess Athlone.
1963
Mill Hill officially purchases Belmont
1985
Belmont becomes officially managed by Mill Hill
1994
First Year 3 female pupils are welcomed to Belmont
1996
Belmont is completely co-educational, like Mill Hill
2002
Jubilee Building is opened
Jubilee Building is constructed and opened in honour of Her Majesty’s Golden Jubilee
2004
First female Head is appointed
Lynn Duncan (internally) follows after the the last ‘Master’, John Hawkins.
2012
Belmont celebrates its Centenary
Centenary Service is held at Central Hall Westminster and the opening of the Michael Proctor building and Centenary Garden are held to celebrate centenary.
2018
The new home of Middlesex Women and Girls’ Cricket
Mill Hill and Belmont Schools unveiled as the New Home of Middlesex Women and Girls’ Cricket. This innovative partnership will see the Middlesex Women and Girls’ sides playing the majority of their home matches at Mill Hill and Belmont.
