Our House System
Our House system is a much-loved Belmont tradition and vibrant part of our school life. Our six Houses - Angles, Celts, Danes, Jutes, Saxons and Vikings - give pupils an immediate sense of identity, belonging and pride from the moment they join us. You'll find which House you'll be part of before you arrive, so you can start feeling at home straight away.
Each House is led by a dedicated Head of House who plays a key role in supporting pupils pastorally and encouraging them to embrace the spirit and values of their House. This sense of House pride becomes part of pupils’ everyday experience, from lessons to co-curricular activities and forms an important part of our pastoral care.
Being part of a House gives pupils a strong sense of community, opportunities to explore interests, develop new skills and take on leadership roles, as well as support from peers and staff across the school. Through events, mentoring and our rewards system, our House system helps create a warm, supportive environment where every pupil is inspired to get involved and flourish academically, socially and personally.
Pupils take part in a wide range of House events and competitions, all designed with participation and enjoyment at their heart, giving every pupil the chance to shine. Under the guidance of their Head of House, pupils build teamwork, confidence and resilience, whilst enjoying a healthy dose of friendly rivalry. Events range from Maths challenges and drama performances to sports tournaments, talent showcases, creative projects and much more.
These occasions are highlights of our school year, and give pupils the chance to share their talents, try new things and form friendships across year groups. The House system also naturally encourages mentorship, with older pupils often guiding and inspiring younger ones.
